How to use a brain dump (for ADHD)

The most effective use of a brain dump is at the start of a focus session. ADHD brains often refuse to focus because they're holding 17 background tabs of "things to remember." Park those tabs externally — type them out into this page — and the brain finally has permission to drop them. The focus session that follows is meaningfully easier.

Three rules: (1) no filtering — write the dumb thoughts too, that's the point. (2) no organizing — categorizing while dumping defeats the dump. (3) no commitment to do any of it — this is a parking lot, not a to-do list. If something matters, copy it into your actual task system afterward.

What this tool is NOT

This isn't a notes app, a to-do system, a journal, or a knowledge base. There are great tools for all those (Notion, Obsidian, Todoist, Day One). This is a temporary parking lot for racing thoughts. Open it, dump, leave it. Come back tomorrow and it's still there — or clear it and start fresh.

Privacy: everything you type is saved in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to any server. Clearing your browser data clears this. No account, no sync, no tracking. By design — a brain dump should feel like writing in a journal nobody will read.

Now ready to focus?
