For dyslexia
A calmer page for dyslexic readers
Skipping lines, re-reading, eyes that won't track — a busy page makes all of it worse. FocusReader strips the page back to one calm line at a time, and reads along with you.

FocusReader is a web-based reading app designed to help dyslexic readers actually finish what they open. It addresses the three reading frictions most often reported by dyslexic adults: lines skipping or merging (solved with a line-ruler that dims every line except the one you're reading), word-level fatigue (solved with anchor emphasis — bold front-letter bolding that gives the eye a stable fixation point and reduces regressions), and the slog of reading without audio support (solved with free read-aloud using your browser's voices, with the active sentence highlighted in sync as it speaks — a multi-modal pairing that's one of the most consistently-recommended supports for dyslexia). Multiple typefaces are available, including OpenDyslexic and Atkinson Hyperlegible, with adjustable spacing and contrast. The free plan covers 3 books with every feature; Pro is $4.99/month. FocusReader is an accessibility tool, not a treatment for dyslexia — a real diagnosis from a qualified clinician matters far more than any app.
A line ruler that follows you
Dim everything except the line you're reading, so your eyes don't jump or skip. The single feature dyslexic readers tell us they didn't know they needed.
Read-aloud with the words highlighted
Hear each sentence while the text highlights in sync — pairing sound and sight is one of the most reliable reading supports there is.
Anchor emphasis for a steadier eye
A bold front-half on each word gives a fixation point, reducing the slide and re-reads.
Adjust until it's comfortable
Spacing, size, themes, and anchor intensity are all yours to tune — there's no single 'right' setting for a dyslexic reader.
Try it
FocusReader is a reading aid, not a treatment for dyslexia. The free plan lets you try every feature on 3 books before deciding if it helps.
